JASS pupils from Roseburn Primary start work on fence painting
4 boys from P6 at Roseburn spent 2.5 hours painting the rose garden fence as part of the JASS (Junior Award Scheme Scotland). They did a lovely job and completed the top coat of the first section. They need to do 8 hours in total so look out for further progress.
Feasibility study to upgrade community shelter
FoRP is applying for grants for a feasibility study to renovate the community shelter (the old and now closed toilet block next to the changing facilities).
FoRP AGM date announced
The Annual General Meeting of Friends of Roseburn Park will be held on Thursday 19 July 2012.
Watch this space for time and venue.
Trees/playground threatened?
FoRP have been engaging with the City Council to help minimize the impact of the forthcoming flood defence works. The Park’s fabulous boundary trees are threatened by the works need to upgrade the flood wall (though we are assured that any damaged will be replaced by full grown replacements). And there is uncertainty over whether the playground will be cut off from the park by the new wall.

Bulb planting pays off
All those bulbs planted by FoRP and Roseburn Primary School are brightening up the park. There will be more plantings next year.

Public meeting to discuss park event
On Tuesday 22 May we held a meeting to discuss possible ideas for a Roseburn Park event. Numerous suggestions were made including dog competitions and kite flying competitions and highland games. Most likely to be held in the early autumn. Ideas and groups welcome.
Mural
A joint project between CEC, FoRP saw a wonderful mural painted by local children and juniors from Murrayfield DAFS cricket club on the Roseburn Park armoury building in Summer 2011. The workshop was faciliated by Kieron from Zap Grafitti Ltd .
Update
Again things have been dormant since the dafs got planted and bloomed…. but another attempt to kick-start things is underway with a meeting and quick AGM down at the Park buildings on Thursday 30 June at 7pm. If it rains we’ll pop into one of the buildings!
A Project – at last!
Well there’s life in FoRP still. The council have donated us some spring bulbs to plant…dafs.. rather appropriate given the local cricket club – Murrayfield DAFS which is keeping the fledgling FORP alive! So we’ll be planting the bulbs on Saturday 30 October from 10.30am – contact Ian Shiels on 07730 074174.
