FoRP Extraordinary General Meeting to agree revised constitution 29 Nov 7pm

From the secretary:

Friends of Roseburn Park are in the process of applying for charitable status which requires us to adopt a new constitution.  Please see the attached revision.

The management committee have listened to feedback from members  and  reviewed the proposed constitution. You will note that this is a much slimmer version than the previous one.

Please let us know if you have any comments on the revised version.

We are holding an EGM with the aim of approving the new constitution on Thursday 29th November at 7pm in the Dove coffee lounge, Murrayfield Parish Church, 2b Ormidale Terrace.

Please join us there to hear an update on the park and share your views. Here is the revised proposed constitution:

FORP–proposed-constitution_REVISED 2

Proposed constitution

A forthcoming Extraordinary General Meeting of members (EGM) (date TBC) will consider adopting this constitution: FORP–proposed-constitution
The proposed change is predicated on FoRP registering as a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO), which both limits the liabilities of members of FoRP and offers charitable status and therefore access to a wider range of grants. You can suggested alternative wordings up to four weeks before the EGM for consideration at the EGM. You can direct suggested wordings by leaving a comment here or by using a contact email (and we will publish them here).

Flood defences digging of test pits along wall

From Arup, the engineers:

Dear All,

As part of the Water of Leith Flood Prevention Scheme we are proposing to carry out trial pits at three locations along Roseburn Park Wall to determine the extents of the existing foundation.  Trial pits approximately 1m by 1m and up to 1m deep will be created on either side of the wall at the positions indicated HERE: http://goo.gl/maps/QMqW

It is proposed that the works will be carried out between 8am and 4pm commencing on the 30th July. The works should take no longer than four working days depending on weather conditions. All the excavations will be reinstated in full following completion. No footpath closures will be in place during this time. The excavations will be carried out by hand and therefore no heavy machinery will be in operation during the work.

Should inconsistencies in the wall foundations be found additional trial pits of a similar nature will be carried out along the wall within the time frame provided above.

Works will be carried out in such a way that they will not interrupt normal usage of the park.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments regarding the works that have been described above or if the dates proposed are not suitable.

Grass cuttings

Following a FoRP AGM enquiry, the City Council have said that the clumping of grass-cuttings has been made worse by the rain and that grass cuttings are not lifted in any park in the city.

Flood wall facing

Photograph showing how Council official suggest flood wall against the Murrayfield Stadium park boundary will be faced, following FoRP questioning about this.  Apparently the wall on the left is how it will look facing into the park from the stadium, and the wall on the right is how it will look in Riversdale Crescent.
